2face, Psquare, Mavins, others to perform at AMVCA Today

Music superstars including Benue, Nigeria’s 2face Idibia, P-Square, Don Jazzy and the Mavin Crew, popular comedian, Basketmouth; Tanzanian star, Diamond are all confirmed to perform at Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award 2015. The ever vibrant IK Osakioduwa (Big Brother Africa host) and popular Zimbabwean OAP, Vimbai Mutinhiri (host of Star Gist) will be acting as host at the event this evening. In a statement, the company’s Regional Director, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu said: ‘The AMVCAs were created to celebrate the contribution of African filmmakers, actors and technicians in the success of the continent’s film and television industry. The number and quality of entries for this year’s edition are a great improvement on the previous editions and the show promises to be exciting for our viewers across the continent.’ According to the statement, Don Jazzy and the Mavin Crew will make an appearance courtesy of the AMVCA associate sponsors, MTN in an event expected to feature the major stars in Nigerian movie industry and beyond. Along with music stars to take to the stage is UK-based rising Nigerian music star, Lola Rae. Since the first edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards took place in Lagos on March 9, 2013, broadcast live to DStv and GOtv audiences in more than 50 countries across the continent, the award has become one of the biggest event in Africa every year. The 2014 edition saw multiple awardwinning actress, Nse Ikpe-Etim taking home the award for Best Actress for her role in Michele Racca’s Journey To Self while Ghanaian film producer/director, Shirley Frimpong-Manso’s movie, The Contract was a big winner as well. The 2014 AMVCAs also saw renowned film and TV veteran, Pete Edochie, winning the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award and the atmosphere of fun and excitement is expected to be turned up even more for tomorrow’s edition which will hold at Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. The awards ceremony will be broadcast live on all Africa Magic channels at 5pm Nigerian time....
