Benue state  a state located in in the middle belt area of Nigeria having Makurdi as it state capital  was created on February 13, 1976 from the formal Benue Plateau state and is bordered today by Nasarawa to the north, Taraba to the east, Ebonyi and Cross river to the south and Kogi to the west.

Benue state has 23 local government areas: Gwer-west, Makurdi, Ado, Oju, Katsina-Ala, Apa, Agatu, Buruku, Okpowu, Konshisha, Ukum, Vandekya, Ohimini, Ushongu, Ogbadibo, Logo, Obi, Gboko, Tarka, Kwade, Gwer Otukpo.

Benue state is referred to as Food Basket of the Nation because of it reach in agricultural produce. In Benue state Yams, rice, cassava, beans, coco-yam and millet is produced at a very high rate.
This state also boast of one of the longest river system in the country with potential for a vaible fishing industry. dry season farming through irrigation and for an inland water way.
Natural resources are not left out equally when you come to Benue state. the state is blessed with abundant mineral resources like; clay, coal, calcite, limestone, lead and zinc.

In level of eduction in the state. Benue state has numerous institution scattered all over the state ranging from the primary to the tertiary.

The people of Benue live a very social and simple life with its people being the Tiv, Idoma, Igede, Etulo, Abakpa, Jukun, Akweya and Nyifon, Hausa with the Tiv people dominating and occupying almost 14 local government areas. having their locally made musical instruments as
